SEATAC INFORMATION SHEET 2011- 2012
1. General information. The Club has excellent facilities with a house at Warneet and a modern aluminium boat for the use of Members. In addition, many Members have their own boats and these often fish together with the Club boats. The expertise of many of our long time Members cover all sorts of fishing and their skills and knowledge are shared freely. Whiting fishing, mostly at Westernport, is our specialty. As you can see from the program, we have various fishing trips, social functions, and other inter changes. After a new Member joins, his or her nominator will provide continued help. We try hard to be a friendly Club and are pleased to note our expanding Membership.
Detailed information is available on the website and there will be hard copy postings and emails to members throughout the year. BBQ are generally provided at Angling Challenges and some other events, at a cost of $5.00 pp.
2. Meeting locations and dates Regular Club meetings are held at the Waverley RSL in Coleman Parade, Glen Waverley, on the first and third Tuesday of each month, starting at 8.00pm. Meetings cover the status of boating, house matters, social affairs, general Club business and acceptance of nominations from those persons wishing to go fishing with the Club over the following fortnight. The AGM is scheduled for 15 Aug. with the 2 previous meetings for nominations of office bearers. Visitors are welcomed to all Club meetings except, naturally, the AGM and the Committee Meetings.

4. Social Calendar -Christmas lunch Waverley RSL 20 Nov. (booking closed 5 Nov): Christmas in July and Winery Tour (given sufficient support): Other events to be added as required throughout the year.
5. Fees and Donations for 2010/11.
Fees - $50, Membership $70 if paid by AGM $100 if paid later (half price Memb. Fee for country members more than 100km from Melb. centre). New-members probationary period of 6 months. Affiliated Memberships are at the discretion of and under the conditions set by the Committee.
Donations - Boat . 2 People $80.-3 People $105-4 People $120. Charges include fuel and oil.- Long-periods, for away fishing trips, are to be decided by the Executive Committee on advice from the boating Sub-committee. It is the prerogative of the Angling Sub-committee to offer reduced-trip donations for needed Captains.
House-stays, should be booked ahead and are $15/night per person.
6. Angling information (refer Section 8 for detailed boating information) Anglers must pay $10.00 per year to take part in Challenges. Members wishing to go fishing should try to attend the previous Club Meeting to book their trip. Alternatively, book by phoning either of the Angling Sub-committee or, if unavailable, another Committee Member
New Members are urged to place themselves on the Trainee Captains list so
that they can take out the Club boat
The congregation point for the Westernport fishing trips is determined by the
elected Skipper of the day but, until further notice, is primarily at Yaringa
Boat Harbour and Marina where the boat is stored.
In any dispute relating to angling and bookings, the Angling Committee has the ultimate decision
Angling competition (Challenge) days will be conducted, as shown
in the Schedule (section 3) for the Club Champion
Members unable to fish the competition days, due to work commitments etc., can
fish for competition points on each adjacent days. Catches for
Challenges and awards must be verified by at least one other Club Member or
Associate and a filled out fishing trip sheet submitted to Angling Chairman.

Club

When different fish species are caught on same day members can only submit 1
species for
competition points
Challenge competition winners will be judged by best
average, with any tied results settled by awarding
winner to shortest time fished.

7. Nominating for Club-boat trips (section 8). In nominating for Club trips, Members should familiarize
themselves with the boating condition below
Nominations taken at Club Meetings take preference over telephone
nominations
Booking for boat trips, in order of preference, is Members, Members
immediate families (i.e. partner and
siblings) and Member’s visitors
A Member can invite up to 2 visitors per trip
A visitor can have a maximum of 3 boat trips per season & then be given
the opportunity to apply to
become a Member
Persons between 12 and 17 can be charged at half price but entitled to
half their share of the catch
For angling cancellations or nominations, contact the Chairman of the
Angling Sub-committee or his
listed Assistant
Members must be at the nominated meeting point 15 minutes prior to
departure time
Times may be varied by the Chairman of Angling Committee or by the
Captain
Keeping undersize fish or exceeding bag limits will result in
disqualification from fish-off day
with deliberate major regulation breaches to be dealt with by the full Committee.
8. Boating information
The Club boat is located at Yaringa Marina where it is registered as Boat Number M275.

All Captains taking out club boat are
required to purchase a $50.00 security access card from Yaringa
boat harbour. This is fully refundable when no longer required (see Treasurer for refund)
Captains are to ring Yaringa on
59774154 by 4 pm the day before and advise office that you require
boat
No.M275 to be launched at your required time
Captains are also to ask Yaringa staff to fill the boat with petrol.
On arrival, the captain is to check
that
all safety equipment is in working order and that the 2 stroke oil tank on motor is at least half full
On returning, lift the motor and tell staff you require boat on hard stand for
washing and flushing motor
Once finished, put on canopy and have a safe trip home
The Captain fills in trip sheets and delivers them to Neil Rayner at the next
meeting
The Captain is to immediately inform the Boat Sub-committee on any maintenance,
safety or breakdown
issues. As a general rule, trip Captain's are decided at the previous Club Meeting and confirmed by the
Angling Sub-committee Chairman at that time
If you booked in but cannot attend the appropriate club Meeting, then contact
the Chairman of the Angling
Sub-committee, or his deputy for detailed information, including the Captain's identity and specific
requirements for the trip
Fuel
is maintained by Yaringa Marina and 2 stroke oil is kept in the boat (if
container oil is low, contact
the Boat Captain or if urgently required, purchase and show the receipt to the Treasurer for a refund) .
Specific conditions are that the Club boat is not allowed out when winds forecast at more than 20 Knots
Booking for the boat is in order of preference, Members, Members immediate
families and Members
visitors up to a maximum of 2 for any one trip
When there are multiple consecutive bookings, a boat can only be reserved for 1
day at a time
Longer term hiring of the boats for fishing away from the Westernport base, is
subject to availability
and normally is limited to a maximum of 3 consecutive days
Such hiring and usage is at the discretion of the Executive Committee
acting on advice from the Boat
and Angling Sub-committees
Captains can determine the times for departure and may make other late-stage
alterations to plans.
It is therefore the responsibility of each trip Member to contact the trip Captain the day before the trip
A boat must not be taken out without clearance either at a Club meeting or
subsequently, from an
Angling Sub-committee Member or, if this is not possible, from an authorized Committee Member .
Only Members authorized to skipper the boat (refer Members list available from Secretary) can be Captains
All Captains, including Trainees, must hold a current boating license
Trainee Captains may take a boat out provided another fully qualified
Captained boat is in the
immediate vicinity
The Club boat takes a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 5 passengers. However, it is
recommended that
occupants are restricted to a maximum of 4, depending upon the overall weights
Children must be over 5 years old & be accompanied by a parent or by a person
given authority by a
parent and with the concurrence of all trip Members
On these occasions, it is the responsibility of the parent to attend to their
child's safety and to provide
them with an appropriate lifejacket that must be worn at all times. Individuals must check lifejackets
ensuring they are a suitable fit before departing.. (It is reiterated that it is the responsibility of the
designated adult to look after their children's safety and to provide them with appropriate lifejackets
that must be worn at all times). Captains are to be familiar with operating procedures, and must check
oil and fuel and replenish appropriately
When launching either Club or Private boats from
Warneet, allow 2 hours either side of low tide to allow
for access to the ramp
Tide times and tables are available on
the Website or from Tackle shops and Newsagents.
9. House arrangements Bookings are arranged through the Chairman of the House Sub-committee

and Members visitors up to
a maximum of 2 for any one period, unless given dispensation by the Committee
Every person staying
overnight at the Club House must inform the House Captain and fill in the
'House Register Book' with the names of those who have stayed, including the date and length of stay
A gold coin donation is
required for the use of house tank water in the washing Member’s boats.
No
Motors
are to be flushed out at the house -
this excludes the club boat
Any excessive noise,
disturbance or anti-social behaviour, especially that affecting neighbours, will
result in limitation of access to the house
alcohol
consumption at the Clubhouse must be limited so that others are not
inconvenienced
House
Keys are available for financial members on a $10.00 refundable deposit
If
a member is reported to have stayed overnight in the Club House without adhering
to the house
rules,
the Executive Committee will decide on the required action and, if such a breach occurs again, he or she
may be required to hand back the Club Key.
10. Radio procedures and marine contacts
The boat radios are normally on 27.96Mhz for contact between boats
Channel 27. 88Mhz is for establishing other contacts
and emergencies with 27.86Mhz for weather reports
and alternative emergencies
